Life comes upon you unexpected. It takes for a while to realize you have a mind, a body, and somewhere in between them, a soul… Living the days by minutes or seconds, can leave you empty or shallow… but living your days with love can leave you filled with joy and happiness… but just as easily, it can leave you with pain and sorrow… No matter what you do in life, mostly you take chances… you gamble the present moment for a future gift… although you feed your body and feed your mind, your hiding soul starve and famish for love and affection… and seldom you can dare to love not caring for the consequences that may lead to pain… one way or another, you have to admit it! Love hurts! 愛は痛み! … and yet… taking no chance may prove the biggest risk of all!
Recently I asked Timea out to pose a bit for me, in order to study her in front of my camera… same day I shot her on film and digital as well… sort of accommodation shooting… so.. patience a bit and stay tuned!
Well, this shooting took place quite some time ago, I must admit. After meeting with Florina who put up a personal collection of dresses and wanted to be photographed in a creative way, I took up the challenge to make some sort of story of this shooting. Me and my light assistant, Claudiu, went to Cluj prepared with some ideas based on some pictures about the dresses and the location. One of the challenges was to coordinate 6 female models on the scene, in a limited space. When we reached the shooting location models were arriving, hair and make-up was in progress… After inspecting the room an the hallway of the old building, in order to set the scene and the point of view of the shots, we were told that two models stepped back from this project and we need to work with the remaining four. Well… and we started shooting. The following photos are my story about four non blondes women, having a good time and preparing to get out and have fun in the city…
It feels somehow peculiar posting a shooting’s result after almost half year from the shooting day… brings back memories, moments, laughter and fun time. As for myself, it was a unique experience to work with four models in the same time, paying attention to story line, details, emotions, the dresses… I must admit, at the end, I was drenched mentally and the driving home to Tirgu Mures was performed by my assistant Claudiu, excellently! Thank for the patience folks, it was nice and memorable working together and congratulation to the whole team!
Well… opportunity presented itself and Susan could appear again in front of my lens. It’s been a while since I shot her and a few years ago I made her a promise. Being stubborn by nature and patient by default I was intended to keep that promise. The location was known to me and from our previous chit-chat with the model, I started to draw a short film in my mind about the shooting itself. I wanted to use only available light and start the story slowly, and getting closer to the final shot step by step. Special thanks goes to “Tücsök” who helped me and the model along the shooting… This mutual effort resulted a two mini-series ( a bit chunky, I admit ) and made me aware that I like to direct stories and freeze the movie that’s running in my mind by taking screen-shots as photographs… Let’s see if I managed to waste my time and my model time efficiently! With this image I ended my shooting… personally I feel I was able to produce more. More, not as quantity but quality… maybe next time. I am still experiencing how to transmit those inner feelings that takes shape in one’s mind, how to bring to light those personas we hide so much under our ego. Perhaps this is why I like photography… the journey to discover myself day by day is just as appealing like discovering the person next to me, or in front of my lens… A final group photo was taken with the people who was present on location an made that beautiful Sunday even more pleasant… 🙂
