… slowly it passed a year since I published anything on this blog. I am not going to waste time in finding nicely wrapped excuses… get directly into the subject. One of my former student asked last year to take some photos about him. even gave me some hints what he would like… and I ended up getting pretty familiar with the TV series called MAD MEN. Last week we met again and while we sipped our coffee in a new fancy coffee shop recently opened in my town I started to picture in my mind the shooting… The end results can be seen here:
Life comes upon you unexpected. It takes for a while to realize you have a mind, a body, and somewhere in between them, a soul… Living the days by minutes or seconds, can leave you empty or shallow… but living your days with love can leave you filled with joy and happiness… but just as easily, it can leave you with pain and sorrow… No matter what you do in life, mostly you take chances… you gamble the present moment for a future gift… although you feed your body and feed your mind, your hiding soul starve and famish for love and affection… and seldom you can dare to love not caring for the consequences that may lead to pain… one way or another, you have to admit it! Love hurts! 愛は痛み! … and yet… taking no chance may prove the biggest risk of all!

PS: I do know that the previous teaser announced an accommodation shooting with TIMEA … a bit more patience please, soon it will follow… PROMISE!
Recently I asked Timea out to pose a bit for me, in order to study her in front of my camera… same day I shot her on film and digital as well… sort of accommodation shooting… so.. patience a bit and stay tuned!
Well… opportunity presented itself and Susan could appear again in front of my lens. It’s been a while since I shot her and a few years ago I made her a promise. Being stubborn by nature and patient by default I was intended to keep that promise. The location was known to me and from our previous chit-chat with the model, I started to draw a short film in my mind about the shooting itself. I wanted to use only available light and start the story slowly, and getting closer to the final shot step by step. Special thanks goes to “Tücsök” who helped me and the model along the shooting… This mutual effort resulted a two mini-series ( a bit chunky, I admit ) and made me aware that I like to direct stories and freeze the movie that’s running in my mind by taking screen-shots as photographs… Let’s see if I managed to waste my time and my model time efficiently! Enjoy!
here, a short break was needed by the both of us…
and the shooting went on after a while…
With this image I ended my shooting… personally I feel I was able to produce more. More, not as quantity but quality… maybe next time. I am still experiencing how to transmit those inner feelings that takes shape in one’s mind, how to bring to light those personas we hide so much under our ego. Perhaps this is why I like photography… the journey to discover myself day by day is just as appealing like discovering the person next to me, or in front of my lens… A final group photo was taken with the people who was present on location an made that beautiful Sunday even more pleasant… 🙂
Thank you all!
so, I’ve been announced the teaser for quite a long time, but the post processing of this shooting took a bit more than I expected… nevertheless patience pays off, I guess. In a nutshell, this shooting was the most prepared of mine, involving a huge team effort, planning and financial costs. The idea of this shooting started around Halloween last year and slowly grew by time. In this spring all thing seemed to fall in place and we prepared seriously for this shooting. We did a location scouting, storyboard making, make-up tests and finally when the weekend of the shooting came, we entered in our role… One of the challenges was to shoot this story not in according to the timeline of the story… Overall I feel kind of content of the outcome. Much we’ve learned of this, I am pretty sure… how and when we shall make another story is yet to be determined, but one thing is certain, I am not going to stop here… Nope!
So, I guess the story is far from perfect, I admit that. I just hope is understandable… I tend to see stories like this like a movie in my head and I am trying to capture the key frames in photos, in order to force the viewer to fill the missing blanks… The last photo is the group shot after the first day of shooting. Credits to: Endreffy Csaba (project manager), Anamaria V. ( lady of the manor), Éva Bartha (maid girl), Réka Kopacz (maid girl), Dudás Szabolcs (salesman/victim), Gyopi Puskás (make-up). This way you can easily figure out who am I in that last photo … And great thanks for Claudiu Baias (light assistant – post process editor) !!!
Back in business! At least it seems so! I had the opportunity to photograph a model in order to create a casting poster for Crystal Models Agency. The best part was that I had free hand on the location, the lighting and the concept of the shooting. I knew the dress what the model would wear on that day and partially I was told about the make-up. As a starting place I picked Incanto Cafe from downtown and later on I moved the photo shoot near the National Theater. My lighting assistant was Claudiu and the make-up artist was Gyopi. I wanted to push this shooting a bit towards fashion rather than glamour this time. I am still waiting to obtain the final form of the casting poster and as soon as I receive it I shall post it. Altogether it was a great teamwork and I have to thank you all for your support!
THE CASTING POSTER:
Finally! She could very well say it, after postponing her shooting, until turned 18 years… Actually she’s 19 now and after a careful planing we made this shooting real. I found the location at a photo-walk with some other photographers in my town, because I am always in search of new photo shooting location. February 5th was a minus 12 C winter day… but that didn’t stopped my model to get into her role and being assisted by my friend, the light-master Claudiu, we went to get some photos… Usually I used strobe flash with umbrella, this time not shoot-through, but the reflective umbrella and the second strobe flash was naked, to illuminate the background occasionally. At some point on the set came Larisa’s cousin and I included her also in a few shots. About he post process I can only say I had some ideas and let my imagination loose a bit… OK, I admit, maybe a bit more! Here are some shots. Enjoy and feel free to leave some feedback!
Sunday. Too hot outside, even in the morning hour… I planned this shooting with Kata, a 19 years old girl from a nearby town, in order to get her comfortable in front of the camera and to get her used to posing. I started out with natural light, than later I used a flash on light-stand with a shoot-through umbrella. I managed to obtain some interesting shots, but what am I posting here are only those photos that she agreed to become public.
Katalin is a lovely girl who wanted me to take some photos about her at the end of her high-school. She has some sparkling eyes and a naturally radiant smile that cannot take a NO for an answer. All the shooting was made in natural light, occasionally I used a large gold-silver reflector. It started out somewhat shyly but at the end the shooting was fun and relaxing!
She was introduced to me by a fellow shooter and I must admit I jumped on the opportunity to use my camera again… But by the end of the shooting I learned my lesson… Always spend some time with the model in order to “feel” her and get her comfortable with your style and demands… Not many shots came out as I desired… I post this session to remind me never make that mistake again…
